You Were All Yellow

Earlier this year, wunderkind Petra Haden (of The Rentals, That Dog, and most recently, the Decemberists) released two albums: one was the ridiculously good interpretation of The Who Sell Out, and a collaboration with musician Bill Frissell. We'll be taking a look at the latter album because it has an interesting song or two.
The album is mostly covers, from bands like Foo Fighters to Stevie Wonder. Also is a cover of Coldplay's break-out song "Yellow." Frissell does the instrumentation and Haden adds her beautiful voice, taking Chris Martin's lyrics and making them really something beautiful.
I guess this week the song was featured on The OC. What does this mean? Will the song be featured on their next mix and Haden will be made the next indie goddess? We'll have to wait and see. As for now, here's the song.

It's Frisell. He's a total badass because he's done it all. He was a huge part of the NY noise scene back in the late 80s and now he's making beautiful Americana records on Nonesuch. If you haven't checked out "Blues Dream," you really should.
