We all know Portland has one of the best music scenes around right about now. They're doin' pretty good when it comes to art too, now that I think of it. Anyway, one of Portland's venues, Holocene, decided it'd be cool to start up their own record label called, surprise, Holocene Music. They've got a few releases planned out, two of which are making me salivate.
The first, a compilation of remixes of several hundred (okay a dozen or so) Portlandish artists, the absurdly awesomely titled It's Importland To Me To Be One Step Further Than One Step Beyond: Holocene Music Remix Compilation Volume 1. It features remixes of such artists as Menomena, The Blow, Y.A.C.H.T., The Thermals, Point Juncture WA, Thanksgiving, etc. by remixers like TalkDemonic, E*Rock, Copy, and Toothfairy. I'm pretty sure it's going to blow your mind. Here's a track from the compilation, supposedly out April 18th.
Blitzen Trapper-Whiskey Kisses (Kittens Remix)
The second release makes me really excited. It's a remix 12" of The Blow's "The Love That I Crave" by remixers Caro and Strategy. That's it. It's being released much sooner, March 13th.
