A Great Week for (Texas) Music

So much going on this week with musicians from Texas. I'm sure you guys have already picked up the new Spoon and the well-deservedly hyped St. Vincent. You know, I've always said, "If they're from Texas or Canada, they're probably good and/or definitely worth a listen."

These guys are no different. Mike & I first saw and loved Fishboy when they opened for the Decemberists at Rubber Gloves in '03. He(Eric) got this Fishboy moniker after swallowing a fish out of a tank at the Dallas Aquarium on a 7th grade field trip.

Fishboy is set to release a rock opera on Happy Happy Birthday To Me Records. In Eric/Fishboy's own words:
It's a rock opera about how myself, the band and the ghost of Buddy Holly attempt to save Texas by going on a tour/crime spree in order to perform all 8030 of the songs I've written in my sleep since I was in the womb. It's appropriately titled: "Albatross: How We Failed To Save The Lone Star State With The Power Of Rock And Roll"
They've opened for and are R.I.Y.L. Of Montreal, Architecture in Helsinki, Spoon, or The Decemberists.

You guys in the DFW area can see their dynamic show tonight at Rubber Gloves.
